Project Summary

Solution

Symbit digitalization department in the company Shipadmin AS, which has expertise in the development of scalable web-based solutions, applications, and their technology and having a pilot agreement with Disruptive Technologies for the testing and development on top of their sensors.

To achieve targets, sensors DT and retrieving relevant data, where Symbit add a service layer on top management, visualization, analysis, and notifications. In this way, all the wishes from SB1 be covered, and there are also opportunities for improvements. SB1 given the opportunity to be among the very first companies that can make use of DT their revolutionary Norwegian developed sensors.
My role
In this project, I mainly worked on the user interface and user experience design but I was also responsible for converting my own design to HTML/CSS, so I did some front-end as well. I have collaborated with our former CEO as the Product Owner and a Software Engineer for the entire product implementation. SO we were only three in the team and used Scrum as our approach to software development.
Sketches
I had done some research and sketches for me to be able to come up with ideas and figure everything out about this project. It was quite a challenge though, since we didn't have any Business/Systems Analyst to help us with the software requirements specification. Nevertheless, it was a great experience collaborating with my team.
Wireframes
I made a series of wireframes for us to visualize the process flow and the information structure of the entire product. The low fidelity wireframes image below shows all the screen parts per module while the high fidelity wireframes show the final content for every screen.

So I wanted to make it look nice and neat since I've always been a fan of clean and simple designs like minimalism. The image below shows the mockup screens that I had managed to convert to HTML/CSS.

Prototype
The prototype video below shows what we have completed to develop as a team. It basically covers the screen modules and some other modals for its basic functionalities such as:

Monitoring temperatures to maintain control of good indoor temperature for employees and for energy conservation measures. Deviations can be alerted automatically to employee groups.

Stay on the current window and doors are open or closed in relation to safety and energy waste, and notify the employee groups automatically by discrepancies

Notify single colleagues for assistance in "difficult" meetings in order to have a safer working

Have access to historical data for comparison with other system and analysis that can be used for improvement

All in all, it was a great experience designing a product like this. It was my first time to design a web-based application for sensor management. I had a lot of challenges but I was able to overcome them with my team during our sprint development.
